About Sheila Paterson
Sheila joined the Centre for Ocean Ventures and Entrepreneurship, COVE, team in February 2016 as Chief Operating Officer. Located on the deep-water port of Halifax, Canada, COVE is a collaborative space where ocean technology companies can start, grow, and prosper. Sheila builds relationships with industry, researchers, facilitating organizations and governments for the application and commercialization of world-class ocean innovation.
Previously, Sheila worked with the Province of Nova Scotia in roles with the Ministries of Energy, Economic Development, Intergovernmental Affairs, and Environment ultimately to enhance the capacity of the local supply chain and advance international links. In the private sector, she led a custom electronics product design group, worked in process engineering with a high-tech electronics manufacturer and in continuous improvement engineering in the aerospace sector. Sheila graduated from Dalhousie University with degrees in Chemical Engineering and in Science and sits on the Board of Directors for Marine Renewables Canada and for the Ocean Technology Council of Nova Scotia.
