Chief Human Resources Officer- New Brunswick Power
Sherry Thomson is Chief Human Resources Officer for New Brunswick Power. NB Power is the largest electric utility in Atlantic Canada, responsible for the generation, transmission and distribution of electricity throughout New Brunswick. Sherry has overall responsibility for People and Culture at NB Power including talent management, resourcing, compensation and benefits, labour relations, payroll, learning & development, wellness, health and safety, First Nations and environment. Over the past 3 years Sherry has led a corporate-wide cultural transformation effort contributing to NB Power being the recipient of the Waterstone Human Capital 2017 Canada’s Most Admired™ Corporate Cultures award – broader public sector.
In 2016, NB Power was the recipient of both Canada’s Best Health and Safety Culture award and Canada’s Best Psychological Safety award by the Canadian Occupational Safety magazine, a publication of Thomson Reuters.Sherry has broad exposure to the utility sector with 30 years of diverse leadership experience spanning both operational and corporate roles including Generation, Construction Projects, Human Resources, Information Technology, and Enterprise Risk Management. Prior to her current role she spent 5 years as Vice President Customer Service & Distribution. Sherry has a Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Education, and Masters Adult Education in leadership development and transformative learning. She loves New Brunswick and enjoying time in nature.
